DUKE WINS! After an amazing season and tournament of College Basketball, the Duke Blue Devils have won the National Championship. An outstanding tournament unfolded, as 3 of the 1 seeds made it to the Final Four.

The highly anticipated undefeated season of Kentucky, unraveled in the semifinal when they fell to Wisconsin. It was extremely disappointing to many bracket players as many of their brackets were officially BUSTED. Kentucky had a phenomenal season with nothing to be ashamed of. They set multiple records and had a great season. Even though they were all very young, most of them will not be returning next season.

Many Wildcats will be choosing to leave for the up and coming draft. This won’t be the first time Coach Calapari has to start from the bottom and rebuild his team in a single season. He has done this multiple times and has been extremely successful with the process. Kentucky’s new team will be young again, but they will be strong and ready to possibly make another undefeated run.

The performance from the 7th seed Michigan St. Spartans led to multiple upsets of seeds ranked higher, including victory over the 4th seed Louisville during  the Elite 8. Their great run was stopped in the Final Four when they lost to the Champion, Duke. Duke was able to get “Coach K” his 5th National Championship. This championship solidifies his spot as possibly the best coach of modern basketball. He is now only 5 Championships behind the all-time great Coach Wooden from UCLA who won 10 Championships.

Coach K won this tournament with outstanding play from multiple freshmen, including freshman standout Jahlil Okafor who will, most likely, be the number 1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Many of the Duke Freshmen and Sophomores plan to leave, but I wouldn’t count out Coach K, as I am sure he will have fantastic freshmen coming in to compete for the next title.

This tournament was not filled with very big upsets other than the 14th seed Georgia State defeating Baylor. Other than that, the tournament was surprisingly not surprising. As the season comes to an end, we may now focus our attention on the NBA and NHL playoffs before summertime.

The Madness of March is over! But we can’t wait for Next Year!
